THE WINDMILLS OF BUCKDEN

Buckden's windmill, just south of Perry Road on the Great North Road, would have been a welcome sight for stagecoach travelers from London in the 18th and 19th century.  Read about the strange events that happened there and its transformation into a lovely cottage.
The Windmill public house at the southern end of the High Street was one of a number of ale houses in Buckden until the early 20th century.

BUCKDEN'S ROYAL OBSERVER CORPS NUCLEAR MONITORING POST

Set in the farmer's field just off the Buckden Road is a fascinating little structure that once played a key part in the Cold War.  It is now a listed building.  Read john Shere's fascinating report.

Now its modern accommodation but the little island on the river Great Ouse, just as you leave Little Paxton and enter St Neots, was once the site of a paper mill.
